Empower Women & Change Lives in Sri Lanka!
The Akurana Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA) Fundraiser Event was successfully held in Melbourne on 11 July 2026, bringing together community members, supporters, and well-wishers for an evening dedicated to supporting meaningful community initiatives.
The event was attended by around 150 guests and was honored by the presence of Councillor Deb Gunn as the Chief Guest. The gathering provided an opportunity for participants to learn more about the work carried out by AWWA and to contribute towards its ongoing efforts.
During the event, Rizana Zubair presented a slideshow highlighting the AWWA story over the past 25 years. The presentation covered the organization’s history, charitable programs, achievements, and the positive impact it has made within communities. Many attendees expressed their appreciation for the dedication and commitment demonstrated by AWWA throughout its journey.
The presentation received excellent feedback, with many audience members noting how impressed they were by the organization’s long-standing service and achievements. The event also encouraged generous support from participants, reflecting the trust and confidence the community has in AWWA’s work.
Following the event and after covering essential expenses, the proceeds were transferred to AWWA through the United Sri Lanka Muslim Association (USMAA) account to support ongoing charitable and community-focused activities.
AWWA later provided a letter of appreciation and an official receipt acknowledging the funds received. This gesture was greatly appreciated and serves as a reminder of the strong partnership and shared commitment to supporting communities in need.
