Akurana Women’s welfare association has been awarded as one of the best performing associations in Kandy district. The awards they won certify the excellence and efficiency of the organization’s performance as a welfare association of women for 3 decades. Some of the notable awards received by AWWA are; “The best Women’s Association”, “The Best Entrepreneur” and “The Best Social Worker”.
Below listed is a chronological list of awards received.
- Gemiliya Udana Competition – 2009 – 1st Place in Akurana Divisional Secretariat.
- “Medarata Liya Abhimani – 2010”. Competition for the performances of women’s associations. AWWA won 1st place in Kandy district.
- Celebration of International Women’s Day 2012. The event was organized by the Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs. AWWA won The Best Women’s Association in Kandy District.
- Celebration of International Women’s Day 2012. The event was organized by Sri Lanka Women’s Bureau.
- Celebration of International Women’s Day 2014 Organized by Sri Lanka Women’s Bureau & the District Secretariat, Kandy. AWWA was awarded, the Best Women’s Association in Kandy District.
- Celebration of International Women’s Day 2014. Organized by Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs & The Divisional Secretariat of Akurana. AWWA was awarded ‘The Best Women’s Association’, ‘The Best Entrepreneur’ and the ‘Best Social Worker’.
